Keep It or List It: Dumpster Edition

Christmas is next week, are you ready for all the new gifts coming your way? How about all the new toys you asked your parents not to get your kids? We understand if you're not. Who thinks of that when 'it's the most wonderful time of the year'? Bin There Dump That San Antonio is only a call away. We may not be Santa in a sleigh with reindeer but we will be a cute little tonka looking truck delivering you a bright green clean dumpster. When you're ready to look through your stuff that has piled up, here are a few tips to help:

  •     Toys: help your kids be honest with which toys they have not played with or touched in while. Are they in good enough condition to sell at a garage sale or online? If not, trash them, they were fun while they lasted.
  • Closets: This can ge a tough one for the ladies and that's okay. Be honest, when is the last time a certain pair of shoes were worn? A shirt? Pants? How about the clothes you're planning to fit back into one day? Once again, check the condition of the clothes, can it be sold, donated or go in the trash. This goes for men's clothes and kids clothes as well.
  • Kitchen cabinets: How many stacks of tupperware still have lids or not sure where the lid went? If it's not a pair and hasn't been for a while, there's a bright green dumpster waiting to haul them away for you!
  • Garage: Paint cans, gas cans with gas, insecticide, tires, and other items of the sort are considered hazardous and must be disposed of properly. In San Antonio, you can take these items to the Bitters Recycling Center and they will dispose of them for you. Visit sanantonio.gov for more information. Don't skip going through the boxes that haven't been opened in a while, make sure the items are needed or if they are sentimental, find ways to display them like shadow boxes for decor, turn baby clothes into stuffed animals or blankets.
It's always a good time to go through your house and really think about what you don't need, what you can sell, and what you can throw away. Making room helps put a little change in your pocket if you were able to sell items and prepare for all the new items coming your way!
