When Natural Disasters Attack

Ever been in a situation that was unavoidable? Welcome to a Natural Disaster! What exactly is this? A natural disaster is a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples are floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms and other geologic processes. Below are some tips to help if you happen to be in a situation that brings on the disaster.

1.)    Contact your insurance company; they will schedule an appointment to come assess the location and damage, they will also help providing a team for repairs.

2.)    Shut off or pause your utilities – this step is often missed as we are concerned with the damage we can see immediately after a natural disaster such as a fire or flood. Once the repairs are fixed you can call to have them turned back on. This way you don’t have to pay for utilities while you’re at a standstill through your construction.

3.)    Take photos and keep renovation plans - If you live in an area that is high volume for natural disasters, a picture can help with future damage or repairs. Take shots of what the location looks like before and after repairs. In the event that history repeats itself you’ll have all your original documents.

4.)    Salvage what you can – this includes any and everything you can salvage. Furniture, if still intact may be reupholstered back to your liking in no time with minimal effort and without having to purchase a new couch. Old doors can be hung sideways near the entrance of your new home add some hooks to create a coat or backpack rack. This will allow you to keep a piece of your old home in your new home!

5.)    Order a dumpster! Call your local Bin There Dump That Team to provide you with the best tool of the all. Our dumpsters have double doors on the back for easy loading; we provide drive way protection and post job sweeping!
