What is a natural resource? A natural resource is material
or substances such as minerals, water, and fertile land that occur in nature
and can be used for economic gain. At a time like this practicing the 3 R’s; Reduce-Reuse-Recycle
is imperative. Solar, wind, water, and wood are examples of what can be
considered to be Renewable energy resources. These resources can be used
repeatedly and replaced naturally. For instance we use wood for heating and
cooking. Solar energy is powered by heat from the sun and never runs out!
Non-Renewable Resources are resources that cannot be
replaced. These resources include coal, natural gas, and oil. Natural gas
gathers below Earth’s crust and must be drilled for and pumped out. Methane and
ethane are the most common types of gases used in our home heating, ovens,
stoves, and grills. These are the resources that we can reduce the use of to
help conserve. Truth is we don’t know how long these types of resources will be
readily available for consumption.
There are so many easy ways we can protect our Planet and
preserve our natural resources. Let’s do our part and educate our friends and
family with what you can do to help.
- · Plant a tree, trees provide food and oxygen, they help save energy and can be used during the winter for heat. Check out https://blog.2peesinapot.com/ to see what else we can do to help save our planet.
- · During this COVID-19 pandemic face masks are a must, check out how to make a face mask out of an old T-shirt! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1Y3FSAxj3g
- · Open the windows and use candles! This helps with conserving electricity, fresh air helps clear our minds and a burning candle of your favorite sent freshens up the air and lights up the room just enough to relax and get ready for your night time routine.
We only have one Earth and while we cannot control
everything that happens to it during our life time, we can control how we
contribute to helping our planet stay healthy!
